DAY 1:  Departure is early afternoon from Port Elizabeth. {For those arriving in the morning you may enjoy an Optional Lunch at Cobblestones Bakery and Coffee Shop} After lunch you will transfer to the Addo Region. Accommodation is at Addo Bush Palace Private Reserve situated on a spectacular and peaceful 2 500 acres game farm bordering the famous Addo Elephant National Park. The lodge is set in beautiful surroundings with abundant vegetation and wildlife.   www.addopalace.co.za

In the afternoon, when it starts to get a little cooler, a local guide will show you the secrets of the African Bush. Guided game walks can often be the highlight of your African trip for it is only then that you gain a true perspective of the fauna and flora around you. For dinner enjoy a 4 course meal and do a little star gazing before retiring for the night. (D)

DAY 2:  After breakfast we drive to the Big Five Addo National Park. We spend an unforgettable time in the park teeming with wildlife. Addo offers viewing of some of Africa's most impressive animals, including Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Black Rhino, Leopard, Kudu, a great variety of other Antelope species, as well as birds, plants, insects and reptiles.

After spending a few hours driving and game viewing we leave the park briefly to enjoy a lunch at Hazels Organic Restaurant.

Most all of what you eat comes from the permaculture garden next to the restaurant. Aside from the delicious meals and coffee, you can mine a wealth of information regarding the history, innovations and current state of permaculture in South Africa and how it is a viable to solution to sustainability.

After another game drive and some time sitting at the Waterhole watching the game come down for their sundowner drink, we return to the lodge for another 4 course Dinner. (B/L/D)

DAY 3:  After breakfast we take the road West towards the Garden Route. En Route we make a stop at Papillon Organic Farm

Papillon is owned by Malcolm and Sha Devine, who bought the 100ha farm 13 years ago. All produce is grown without the use of chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers or preservatives.  The health benefits of growing and eating organic foods far outweigh the problems of keeping insects and disease at bay without resorting to poisoning the food we eat and our planet!!  Organic farming practices are designed to encourage soil and water conservation and reduce pollution, all so vital to our wonderful country, South Africa.

The road winds its way along river gorges, over breathtaking mountain passes and through dense indigenous forests. Our exploration of this ancient forest includes a walk, which winds its way through the tangle of trees, ferns and creepers to a massive Outeniqua Yellowwood, over 800 years old. Drive via Natures Valley and Plettenberg Bay to the Bocca Dolce Restaurant for lunch.

This quaint vegetarian/vegan café on the 425-hectare farm, Quarry Lake Estate, where owners Lello and Lisa Incendiario grow and sell their own organic vegetables, microgreens, and wheatgrass. The in-house coffee shop is host to a Harvest Table buffet on weekends where you can enjoy a variety of soups, salads and warm vegetarian meals including vegan Prawn Curry, Rice paper gluten-free wraps, Tempura vegetables and Tortillas. The desserts are all 100% vegetarian and include Milk Tart, Malva Pudding, Crepes and Apple Crumble. Alternatively, the à la carte menu is packed with hot breakfasts, mains and a dessert of the day. Make sure you don’t pass up a mug of their home-brewed coffee.

We continue on to Knysna. Here we enjoy a boat cruise on the Knysna Lagoon to watch the sunset. Accommodation is at Pumula Lodge. Pumula Lodge with its informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere further offers guests a ‘Vegan Tree-top’ breakfast, served in the well-appointed dining room. Wake up to the twittering sound of birds, take a stroll through the garden with the resident guinea-fowl family going about their daily routine, relax next to the sparkling pool  or sit on your own private balcony, sipping coffee or a sundowner.  www.pumula.co.za  We enjoy dinner at Muze a local restaurant.
