Cape Town - Trout

Trout Fishing  may be enjoyed in and around the mountains of the Western Cape and the winelands. After a days fishing, sit and relax on a wine estate and enjoy a bottle of great Cape wine. Fly enthusiasts spending time in Cape Town will be well advised to hire a local guide and spend a day in the mountains. Both Rainbow and brown trout are available. Trout fishing: The Drakensberg Mountain area offers the finest wild rainbow and brown trout fishing in South Africa. The best months are: Oct; Nov; Mar, Apr & May. Yellow Fish

One of the most exhilarating freshwater fish species to hunt on a fly in South Africa. It is famous for its powerful take-off and endurance once hooked, making it a most sought after fish species in any fishing circle. The silver and gold tints of this sleek and beautiful species make it an ideal Trophy. 

To add to all of this, it is found in some of the environmentally most pristine and wild river regions in the Kimberley area. Both large-mouth and small-mouth yellow fish species are indigenous to Africa, but it is essentially found in South Africa The large-mouth yellow fish is the largest scaled fresh water species found in South Africa and is in particular known for its aggressiveness.

Kingfish

Salt Water Fly Fishing at Kozi Bay: Kosi Bay lies on the north-eastern tip of South Africa bordering on Mocambique. This remote pristine river estuary lies within a protected reserve. Angling is done from  small boats as the shoreline is host to crocodiles and hippos.

The grand prize for the salt-water fly angler is undoubtedly the mighty kingfish. These ferocious fighters will test your skill and equipment. Fish of over 10 kg are common. The best  months are: Oct; Nov; Jan; April; June; August & September. There are numerous other small game fish available. Accommodation is available in the form of Luxury lodges or rustic self accommodation Chalets.
