- Struisbaai
Struis Bay lies at the
Southern tip of Africa, some two hours drive
from Cape Town. From February through to May
fishermen are treated to some excellent
fishing. Great white sharks
(which may not be killed),
yellowtail, cape salmon, kob and reef fish
are caught in great numbers. Fishing is
usually done from ski-boats, which are
available for charter. Squid and sardine are
the baits most widely used. Feathers and
lures are used for the surface game fish
such as yellowtail.

Mossel Bay
Light Tackle Salt Water Angling: The main
target species is the Kob, a kind of sea
bass, growing to over 70 Kg. Smaller game
fish may also be found. Anglers
venture out to the deep on a ski-boat where
excellent catches of cape salmon, shad and
bottom feeders await. Deep Sea fishing
charters are also available Knysna &
Plettenberg Bay. The best months to visit
are February through to April.
Sunshine
Coast -
Jeffery's Bay
Spend the day at sea with experienced
skippers catching reef fish, Cape
Salmon, Kob in the bay. Further out to sea
aredorado, bonito, and tuna. At the end of
the day feast on freshly caught fish while
enjoying an ice cold beer. All tackle
and refreshments are provided. Besides the
fishing there is a a host of marine species
such as dolphins, sharks whales and birdlife
to view. The boat is a 30 ft Cobra Cat
with fly bridge and top of the range Shimano
reels. Best months are Nov - June.
Kwazulu-Natal
A number of offshore craft are available for
charter.
Sodwana Bay
is famous for its Marlin (black & Blue) and
sailfish as is
Richards Bay.
Experienced skippers and high tech equipment
& tackle will ensure anglers experience the
pleasures of a day at sea. T
he warm Mozambique current makes its way
close to shore and brings with it a
concentration of a wide variety of pelagic
game fish including: tuna; yellowtail; king
mackerel; bonito; dorado; sailfish; black,
blue & striped Marlin.
At
St Lucia,
besides game fish, reef fishing will
produce: black & red steenbras; kob; santa
& rock-cod. Shad (bluefish ) are abundant..
The best months to fish are May - July so as
to coincide with the famous "sardine run".
Mozambique
The northern coast near Pemba is Africa’s
premier black marlin destination. Fish over
500 kg have been landed here. Most of the
other smaller game fish and sailfish abound
in these untamed waters. The Quirimba
Archipelago, close to Tanzania, has opened
up a whole new frontier for both big-game
and light tackle/fly anglers. A wide
variety of luxury & rustic lodges as well as
charter boats are available. The best months
are October - March.
