Optional Adventure Activities:
Cage Diving with Crocodiles: (Approx
Rates: R 190)
With crocodile cage-diving you are lowered into a clear
water pool in a bite-proof cage and into the company of
4m long Nile crocodiles, each with a bite pressure four
times the amount of pressure a great white shark can
exert.
The cages are specially built to withstand the
incredible pressure of these ancient reptiles, and
visitors are exposed to an up-close and personal view of
them in their natural habitat, which few people have
experienced.
Participants are kitted out with goggles and a snorkel
and then secured in the specially designed cage. The
cage is then lowered into the pool, home to five Nile
crocodiles. The crocodiles will surround the cage to see
if this latest visitor is a snack of some kind. To add
to the experience, an underwater photograph is taken of
you while you are surrounded by the reptiles. Crocodile
cage diving is not for the faint hearted, but it is a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience something
unique and tell a story no one is likely to
top.
Knysna Rib Adventures: (Approx Rates:
R 450 - 1 200)
The 1 hour trip will go past Featherbed Bay and then
exit the infamous Heads. From there you go past Noetzie,
Cony Glen and back across to Brenton and many other
areas. With the RIB we get up close and personal with
the myriad of sea caves and grottos. Keep your eyes
peeled for the tell-tale blow of the whales as they
breathe, or the large schools of dolphins that regularly
come past.
Apart from the pristine estuary, an adventure through
the infamous Knysna Heads will be the ultimate boating
experience. Once out to sea the world is our oyster,
where one can experience a vast array of bird and marine
life as well as breath-taking scenery.
When the
conditions of the Knysna Heads are unsafe the adventure
will continue down the Knysna estuary which has its own
variety of scenery and birdlife. Be sure that this is no
ordinary lagoon cruise!
Bungee Jumping:
(Approx Rates:
R 1 000)
The Bloukrans Bungy is the worlds highest commercial
natural bungee jump. The Bridge is 216 meters (709 feet)
above the Bloukrans River. Our bungee jump operations
are
open 365 days of the year during all weather conditions
(except gale force winds) Our primary focus is on
maintaining the highest quality safety standards on our
operations so that bungee jumping can be enjoyed by
all.
The view from Africa’s highest bridge captures all the
majesty and tranquillity of the Bloukrans River valley.
But there is nothing tranquil about throwing yourself
more than 200 metres down towards the river below.
Tsitsikamma Tree
Top Canopy Tour:
(Approx Rates: R 650)
Many of the zip line platforms are built around giant
Outeniqua Yellowwood trees that are up to 700 years old!
Standing within the crown of these giants and looking
down at the lush forest floor thirty metres below is an
experience of a lifetime. The scenery and birdlife is
spectacular and professional guides ensure your safety
while keeping you informed about interesting features of
the forest ecology.
If you are fortunate enough, you will spot a pair of
Knysna Loeries or the brilliant red plumage of the
elusive Narina Trogon. Whatever happens, we’re quite
sure you’ll be back.
T sitsikamma
Quad Bike Adventures:
(Approx Rates: R 590)
From
start to finish, the tour is filled with energy, fun and
sights that are so beautiful you just want to stop and
take it all in. Create memories of a lifetime in one of
the most beautiful tours in the Tsitsikamma area. Have
fun on our quad bikes and explore the beautiful forest
plantations that are famous in this region.
Boat Based Whale Watching:
(Approx Rates: R 910)
WHALES & DOLPHINS! Every year, both the Southern Right whales and
the Humpback whales leave their icy feeding grounds off
Antarctica and migrate to mate and calve in the warmer
waters of our Southern African coastline. The Garden
Route is one of the best whale watching destinations in
the country.
Ocean Odyssey, is Knysna’s only close encounter permit
holder and our tours are set to offer our guests an up
close and personal experience with these gentle giants
of the ocean. Tours are typically 1 ½ to 2 hours long
and are led and narrated by our experienced skipper
guides. Once out in the ocean, we have a whale spotter
that assists us in finding wildlife who is in radio
contact with all skippers and will direct them to any
sightings.
Paragliding:
(Approx Rates: R 750)
A
paraglider is a flexible, inflatable, ultra light
gliding wing, not a parachute, but a genuine aircraft
wing in every sense of the word. The pilot inflates the
glider, raises it above his head and ensures that it is
fully open before taking off from any suitable slope.
We do not "jump" off mountains, but run down a slope in
order to get airborne, using the slope exactly like a
regular aircraft uses a runway.
The
pilot then uses a combination of ridge lift and thermal
lift to stay aloft, and can choose to land at the bottom
of the very same hill or mountain, or sometimes cover
vast distances. For the inexperienced, flights take
place with the passenger and pilot flying together in
tandem.
Quad-biking: (Approx
Rates: R 300 - 450)
We have different trails available for any and all skill
levels. Guided rides takes you through spectacular
scenery and vistas and an incredible range of indigenous
bush on the slopes of the Outeniqua mountains between
Knysna and the Wilderness.
The Bikes are easy to ride and fully automatic so even
if it’s your first time on a Quad it will not be a
problem as our friendly and efficient staff will show
you how it’s done in only a few minutes. Kiddies are
very welcome and may ride pillion with Adults. The older
kids ride their own Bikes under the watchful supervision
of our trained guides.
Great White Shark Cage Diving:
(Approx Rates: R 1 800)
Hotel Pick-up. (Time to be advised). After
registration and some fresh percolated coffee
and continental breakfast, a short safety
briefing will follow. After boarding the vessel
we head out to Shark Alley.
Our experienced crew
scatter a scent trail into the water to attract
the Great White Sharks which are sometimes
circling ‘Shark Alley’ for seals. During this
time, we prepare the first guests assisting them
into their wet suits, and diving equipment that
we provide.
The cage is suspended on the surface of the
water right next to the boat. Once the sharks
arrive and feel comfortable with the boat and
cage in the water, the first divers get into the
cage, ready to see these magnificent animals
face too face.
Our Skipper will be standing
above you on the boat, and he will let you know
when the shark is within your viewing range and
which direction it is coming from. Light lunch
included. A video of your shark experience is
available. Hotel Drop-off. (Time to be advised). |
