A Typical Itinerary
DAY 1
(Wine/Juice
Tasting + Lunch)
We leave Cape Town at 09h00 and travel to the
Cape's famed wine-lands region. The first stop
is the historic Lanzerac Estate. Here you can
join a cellar tour followed by a wine tasting.
Our next stop is Babylonstoren - one of the
oldest Cape Dutch farms in the Winelands. It has
a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty, fine
food & wine and a sense of wellbeing.
Guests can take a stroll through the fruit and
fresh vegetable garden which offers an
ever-changing tapestry of botanical diversity.
Lunch will be served in the Greenhouse
Restaurant. The Greenhouse offers guests a
wonderful refreshment station after their walk
through the garden. All food is served
picnic-style in wooden crates with the
preserves, jams and salads served in weck jars,
while fresh bread from a wood-fired oven is
wrapped in the iconic blue-and-white
Babylonstoren paper. Menus are always guided by
what is available in the garden. We have a
farm-to-fork philosophy which means we like to
serve food that is seasonal and that reflects
our “pick, clean and serve” approach.
After lunch visit some of the area's most
elegant wine estates for optional tasting
of their superb wines. Guests will have an
opportunity to purchase organic wines or juices.
Overnight at the Montagu Country Hotel & Spa.
Flowing naturally from a fissure in the rock
face, the spa bath contains minerals that have
healing powers. Guests are free to enjoy a visit
to the Health Spa. Free for dinner.
DAY 2 (Breakfast
- Wine Tasting + Lunch)
Leaving the Winelands, we head through the unique and
scenically spectacular Klein Karoo Route 62 to arrive in
Oudtshoorn, the "ostrich capital" of the world.
Great flocks of ostriches provide a spectacle to be
seen nowhere else.
Enjoy a wine-tasting with bread & cheese
platter at De Krans Wine Estate - an award winning wine estate at Calitzdorp.
The ostrich is surely one of the world's most peculiar birds and you will experience a
visit to a fascinating Ostrich Show Farm.
Overnight in Oudtshoorn at Buffelsdrift Private
Game Reserve. Their Bush Spa offers a
wellness haven that restores peace to body &
soul. Various treatments are available to
promote health & beauty. Optional Game drives
are available.
Free for Dinner at the exquisite Buffelsdrift
Game dining Room and enjoy a memorable culinary
experience. Vegetarian dishes are available.
DAY 3 (Breakfast
- Wine/Juice tasting + Lunch)
After a leisurely breakfast, we
proceed to one of Africa's great wonders - the subterranean wonderland
of the Cango Caves. The largely unexplored sequence of vast caverns are filled
with amazing formations of glittering dripstone. Lunch is enjoyed along
with a tasting of Klein Karoo Wines or Juices.
Experience an Optional Big 5 Wildlife Safari in an open 4X4 Vehicle with
experienced rangers.
Crossing the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains, we descend into the Garden Route.
Our first Stop is the Wilderness where we stop for optional Craft Beer and Gin
Tasting.
(Juice and non-alcoholic beer available)
Arriving in Knysna, we begin to explore this charming village with its myriad
attractions for visitors.
Overnight at the Knysna Waterfront or a nearby Guest House
Free for dinner at the Knysna Waterfront.
DAY 4
(Breakfast
+ Lunch)
Today you will explore
Plettenberg Bay and the Tsitsikamma forest region. Originally
named Bahia Formosa (Beautiful Bay) by the first
Portuguese explorers, Plettenberg Bay more than lives up
to its name as you spend time in its environs. We will
do some whale and dolphin spotting. In the winter months
there will be plenty of whales to view close to the
shore.
Lunch can be
enjoyed at
Bocca Dolce Restaurant.
This quaint vegetarian/vegan café is on
the farm Quarry Lake, where owners Lello and Lisa
Incendiario grow and sell their own organic vegetables,
microgreens, and wheatgrass.
Alternatively a fresh sea-food lunch can be taken right
on the beach at Plettenberg Bay.
The coastal road we
follow winds along steep river gorges, over
spectacular mountain passes and through dense indigenous
forests and ferns. We visit the tiny settlement of
Nature's Valley, one of the loveliest havens of
tranquillity along the Garden Route. Our exploration of
this ancient forest leads through the tangle of trees,
ferns and creepers to the undisputed monarch of the
forest - gigantic Outeniqua Yellowwood trees.
An optional tour of Monkeyland or the Birds of Eden or the
Tenikwa Wildlife Centre is
available before departing back to Knysna.
There will be time
to visit the award winning Le
Spa Tranquille, situated on the edge of the scenic Knysna Lagoon in Thesen
Island Harbour Town. The therapy rooms have picturesque views of the lagoon
which, combined with our therapists expert touch, guarantee a soothing
experience leaving you feeling rejuvenated and de-stressed.
Restore your well-being by indulging in treatments on
offer from vichy shower scrubs, massage, hot stone
therapy, reflexology, body wraps, specialised Clarins
