small group tour with overnight stays in Knysna,
Oudtshoorn and the Winelands.
The Cape Winelands, filled with scenic vineyards, wild
flowers and fruit orchards, is rated amongst the finest
in the world. Visit some of the area's most elegant wine
estates, touring their cellars and tasting their superb
wines.
Experience the spectacular Cango Caves and the comical
Ostrich. View seals, whales and marine bird-life in
Mossel Bay. Stroll along pristine beaches with no other
footprints – only the endangered Oystercatcher.
Visit
ancient forests where elusive wild elephants and
leopards lurk in the shadows. See Giant Yellowwood trees
at Natures Valley. Drive through the Cape Floral Kingdom
of Fynbos and Proteas.
Take a boat cruise to the stunning Knysna Heads and
delight in the shopping and fine culinary delights at
the Knysna Waterfront. Taste oysters and some of the
regions finest wines and fresh juices.
The tour is conducted by an experienced chauffeur
driver/ guide / host who will remain with you throughout
the tour. Luxury accommodation is in four star Guest
Houses, Lodges or Apartments and includes daily
breakfasts. Also included are: Dinners; Lunches; Entry
fees to Activities & Attractions as per itinerary.
Your
chauffeur driver will take you
to a number of activities & attractions which are
included in your tour. You will also
have the opportunity to enjoy some
optional activities such as boat
cruises, outdoor adventures and sporting
activities.
The Tour begins in Cape Town and ends at George Airport.
From George to your next
destination you have an option of Flying to
Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg or
travelling by Luxury Coach or a Private Road
Transfer. A minimum of 2 adult travellers is required
for this tour to take place.
DAY 1
(Lunch + 3 Wine Tastings)
We leave
Cape Town early and travel to the Cape's famed
wine-lands region. Stellenbosch, centre of the
considerable wine industry, is one of the prettiest of
all small towns in South Africa, while the wines, wild
flowers and fruits of the valley are amongst the finest
in the world.
We visit some of the area's most elegant
wine estates, touring their cellars, tasting their
superb wines and enjoying leisurely strolls around their
magnificent grounds and stately homes. We overnight in
the Cape Winelands. The evening is free to enjoy a traditional South African
Dinner.
DAY 2 (Breakfast
+ Lunch Platter + 1 Wine Tasting)
Leaving
the Winelands, we head through the unique and scenically
spectacular Klein Karoo Route 62 to arrive in Calitzdorp.
Here we make a stop for lunch and a tasting of award
winning wines. We continue on to Oudtshoorn, the
"ostrich capital" of the world, with great flocks of
ostriches providing a spectacle to be seen nowhere else
in the world.
The
ostrich is surely one of the world's most peculiar birds
and experience a visit to fascinating Ostrich Show Farm.
Overnight in Oudtshoorn.
DAY 3 (Breakfast
+ Lunch platter + 1 Wine Tasting)
After a
leisurely breakfast, we proceed to one of Africa's great
wonders - the subterranean wonderland of the Cango
Caves. The largely unexplored sequence of vast caverns
are filled with amazing formations of glittering
dripstone. Lunch is enjoyed along with a tasting of
Klein Karoo Wines.
Crossing the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains, we descend
into the Garden Route. Arriving in Knysna, we begin to
explore the Knysna Waterfront with its myriad
attractions for visitors. Optional activities include
oyster and wine tasting, boat yacht and ferry cruises
and shopping. Overnight in Knysna.
DAY 4
(Breakfast + Lunch + 1 Wine Tasting)
Today you
will explore Plettenberg Bay and the Tsitsikamma region.
Originally named Bahia Formosa (Beautiful Bay) by the
first Portuguese explorers, Plettenberg Bay more than
lives up to its name. Do some whale and dolphin
spotting. In the winter months there will be plenty of
whales to view close to the shore.
The
coastal road follows steep river gorges, over
spectacular mountain passes and through dense indigenous
forests and ferns. We visit the tiny settlement of
Nature's Valley, one of the loveliest havens of
tranquillity along the Garden Route. Our exploration of
this ancient forest leads through the tangle of trees,
ferns and creepers to the undisputed monarch of the
forest - gigantic Outeniqua Yellowwood trees.
Enjoy
your lunch at a Wine Estate.
An
optional tour of Monkeyland or the Birds of Eden or the
Knysna Elephant Park is available before departing back
to Knysna.
Optional sunset cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. Free for
dinner at the Waterfront.
DAY 5
(Breakfast)
After breakfast it is time to explore the Knysna Heads,
Brenton On Sea and the Wilderness. We head down towards
George. Stop for an optional craft beer and gin
tasting en route. After an opportunity to do some last
minute shopping and enjoy lunch at the Mall. We drop off
our guests in the early afternoon at George Airport for
your onward flight or road transfer.
This tour can begin in George and end in
Cape Town with slight changes to the
itinerary.
